Who's Watching the Moviemen?

No idea when Zack Snyder’s adaptation of Alan Moore’s seminal graphic novel Watchmen will release in India. Until then here’s why I have reservations regarding the present spate of comic-book adaptations to big screen. Chew on it.

A friend in the states saw the movie, said even though its a visual treat, the storyline lacks the punch. Enough to keep me away from spending my precious precious money. So much for the age old 'word-of-mouth'!

Archita, I guess your friend presents the consensus among the movie-going audience. This was one of the biggest releases of the year, and it was supposed to get a super-big opening. Somewhere in the range of $75-$80 million weekend.
This was released in 3600+ screens. If we go by per theater estimates which give a clearer picture of the performance, it made only over $15K per theater when its estimation was $24K. Comparing that The Dark Knight made around $36K.

This seems like a loser at the box office. As you speak of word of mouth it seems that would be less than stellar, and by that I don't think this film is going to have that long a run.

Let us see.
